Estienne Sheppard came to painting via a career in fashion design in her native South Africa. Originally an outstanding realist painter, Estienne has since matured to a more expressionist style reminiscent of Modigliani for whom she has great respect and admiration.

Using acrylic paint, Estienne builds up layers to create richly textured, stylized figures that glow with vibrant colour. Inspiration comes from her observations of nature and the people around her as well as from her late brother with whom she used to paint. Estienne's dedication to her painting has resulted in an impressive collection of paintings that have gained her a reputation as a talented artist in South Africa and have produced sell out shows in the UK.
