Born in the North of England in 1938, Gerald Hughes studied at Lancaster College of Art, London University and then travelled to study further in Paris and Rome.

 

He has travelled extensively, spending some years both lecturing and painting in Bermuda and the West Indies and was for some while Principal and Lecturer at Jamaica College of Art.

 

He has had many one-man shows throughout England and America - at the Chicago Art Dealer Fair and in Hamilton Bermuda. His work is in many private and public collections including Chase Manhattan Bank Credit Suisse Bank and the Sir Francis Dashwood collection.
