Peter Burridge was born in Taunton in 1960. He began his training in Art and Design at Solihull College of Art and then went on to a degree course at Birmingham Polytechnic.
During his studies he was awarded a scholarship to Italy where he was introduced to the process of etching and printmaking. On his return in 1983 he set up his first printmaking studio.
His etchings are highly detailed and often take months to produce. His inspiration for his prints ranges from sun drenched Mediterranean patios to Warwickshire landscapes. In all his etchings he uses the "soft ground" technique. Originally developed in the 1850's this method creates a soft crayon-like texture which is very distinct in his prints.
Since 1983 his work has been regularly included in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. His prints are represented in collections across the UK, USA, Hong Kong, Australia and throughout Europe.
In 1992 he moved his studio to Gloucestershire and also runs two busy galleries with his wife.
