Emma was born in 1961. She studied Fine Art at West Surrey College of Art and Design and since her graduation in 1984 has exhibited in many galleries throughout the country.

Her pictures are illuminated by her love of vivid colour and decoration. The technique lends itself well to her work as the build up of colour and the scratched on plate are similar in method to her paintings. Her subjects are often drawn from her mischievous but affectionate observation of people on parade or hanging over harbour railings with down nosed dogs in tow. She also draws on the sights and sounds of the seaside lobster pots and gangs of seagulls, beach huts, boats and fishing nets.
